stomachs (Free verse) by kasei
once, when asked
what my favorite part of a
woman's body is,
i thought and thought,
and finally decided on the stomach.
the stomach simply *must* be
slightly squishy,
always comforting,
please not too large
and never too small,
in a somewhat good proportion to
chest and hips.
this is to provide a comfortable pillow
for those nights when the feathers
just
won't do,
or when you feel like curling up on the floor
and watching out the window.
i will lay my head on her stomach,
and she will stroke my hair while i
play with her adorable belly button,
and I will cry with love and happiness,
and we will fall asleep that way, only
to wake up in the morning with sore necks -
but oh well, because she'll have a sore neck too,
and we can laugh about how silly we are,
sleeping on the floor at thirty-four,
and i'll go to work with a smile on my face,
and i'll look forward to her slightly squishy, well-proportioned,
always comforting stomach
that will be waiting for me again that night.
