Summer Lights (Free verse) by Brighteyes
No rain, no clouds.
Deep winter sets upon me.
Sharp pangs of light.
Why won't the night time come?
The hope was fleeting,
The day was ceasing.
Nigh is the night to come.
No rain tonight.
Homeward, walking along,
the stream as it's flowing.
So deeply the sun
sets into the earth.
Whispering shadows
that call the dead
rise wet from the meadows
where once they were lead.
So long I'll wait
for someone to find me.
Whisking away all the sighs
that echo from past good-byes.
Snow falls too slow
with clamy, icey, chilly hands
and all people seem to show
they can't care for their dead.
No rain, no clouds,
deep winter sets upon me.
Turning my dreams to ice
that glimmer in the summer lights...
