Vanity (Free verse) by wordsy
And I, I was a king in the eyes of the man that looked back from my mirror. Tall and proud as I stood before my vanity. Stroking my ego as if it were a thing alive. Feasting on my own words until I near burst so full of myself that I was. Stray did I from the path I had chosen. Lost in a praise of words wrote by my own hand and believed by my own self. Torn by the desire of a soul full of fire and emotion. Lustitly yearning for the attention I craved. I came to find myself left with only memories of a past filled with lies of my own creation. Searching for a truth that I thought I once knew and haunted by the call of dreams of a whisper in the wind. And as I once again come to take pen in hand to set down the eternal flow of words that fills this idle mind. I find myself coming to a slow smile as I feel the cold tingle as the cobwebs are shaken loose once again.
