Missing Yesterday (Free verse) by x311
Looking back on yesterday It seems so close, but it's gone away I can see us again Next to each other, side by side We smile and laugh together Life was like a dream Every moment a gift from the heavens Surely this would last forever Opening my eyes -- I see it's all gone The remnants of what used to be, lingering in me How I would give up all of my tomorrows For only one more yesterday I don't want to wake up to a new morning I only want one more yesterday Memories start to fade Holding on, why couldn't you have stayed But they're not gone yet Just like that dried up rose I hold on to them, so so tightly Anything to remind me Keep it guarded inside of my heart I hold it all in, so so tightly I close my eyes -- I hope it's not gone Everything that used to be, means there's hope for me How I would give up all of my tomorrows For only one more yesterday I don't want to wake up to a new morning I only want one more yesterday I still believe I still have hope I still wonder I still believe I still hold on I still remember Love is my weakness Tried too hard, and killed you with kindness But you're not gone yet As I'm still filled with need Seems like something has died Time pushes onward Trying to make it all fade away The damage from all the times I've cried I don't trust my eyes -- I feel it's gone Whatever used to be, still fuels the hope in me I will give to you all of my tomorrows For another yesterday I won't wake up tomorrow morning If it isn't like yesterday --Rick Gebhardt 10/28/2002
