lost at sea (Free verse) by Freethinker1602
A storm blew in
in under a minute
it happened so fast
we got caught up in it
we held tight to the rail
but how strong was the gale
are we gonna weather this thing
together
you put you arms around me
and held me to the ship
it rocked and pitched
but you held me tight
in this storm the seas were crazy
but some thing about you
not just you, us
seemed so stable,
so sane and constant
it isn't for sure if i would have
stayed aboard or been lost to the sea
but one thing is one hundred percent
I am still here because you kept me
and now in this bitter hour
in the calm of the storm
I wonder coud it all be for naught
the tension sizzles in the air
we stand apart
staring each other down
what was said in our time of turmoil
is the subject of this bitter hour
is there a way back to normal
if there ever was a normal
here comes the storm again
but this round is more forgiving
you held me tight again
and I knew you could never let me go
around us winds howled
rain stung our skin
but still you held me
kept us together kept us safe
now the storm is gone
and we lay huddled on the planks
vulnerable, soaking and slightly battered
but together fulfilled and content
and profoundly closer, trusting each other
we are each others confident our other half
