The gipsy painter (Free verse) by Caducus
February 28th 1929: England An artist leaves the womb, his first canvass grief is placed in a soft Easel that promises a mockingbird. In Berlin an Artist called Adolf contemplates the gipsy problem, answered in rain traveling south, he jerks to the window mumbling “the eagle must fly south to find the wagtail” (die Adler fliegen muss, um den Süden Wagtail) January 7th 1954: India Wood and graphite nomads roll across Romani lead shadows. Ancient memories make him press lightly unlike a wagon sketching a haste to Chandigarh, where a Sikh girl danced impromptu in sand curlicues bellowing towards a white man now an artist of Stendahl Syndrome. February 29th 2009 – Coventry, England Colin thinks of three weeks ago when he stared outside at the snow shaving his pencils and smiling at the thought of drawing it outside taking a blank sheet of A4 titled ‘Backra Snow’ . He thinks of the Sikh girl dancing and a gypsy travels south down his face safe from Eagles in his white beard
