Dismissing Contentment (Free verse) by Something_Else
Clouds hang low like mellow poetry, Like a song written with Intimidating delicacy- Precision for my soul. The trees enjoy the rain today, Swaying this way and that way And backward and forward, And herein and therein And back again Beneath the shadow- And the shower- Of words and melodies That wash away the dust And gray Upon a heavy heart. Who am I, today? As this rain softly intimidates My sleeping misery, My keeping memory Of wrongs and rights And sleepless nights That ascend the tune These drops produce Outside my window pane. Oh, rain, rain, go away, Come wash me clean some other day When I can't find some vain excuse To enjoy unhappiness. But drop by drop The downpour rounds My sound unhappiness, And I relax as eyes rejoice At such a simple thing. The distant sounds As thunder pounds And heaven meets the earth Still linger as the lightning strikes And plays this song again. Who am I, today? As evening comes to me, And raindrops paint so carelessly Upon the window glass.
