Susan B. Bernard (Free verse) by rahson_s
To end the pain caused
by an abusive father, no one never
helps the needy, the small and fragile,
the tiny and unknown, the little
people of the world, my cries, his fist,
his verbal abuse, his dick, his hands,
his tongue, his fingers, my song,
a sad one, a hard one to quote,
out of all the people listening it was he
who did something, my best friend,
my kin, my biggest and oldest brother,
it took place three days after we buried my mother,
she died at the hands of the man in question,
he entered my room the same time as usual,
the fact that we just buried my mother meant nothing,
he tried to feast, taking what he considered to be
his pride and joy, but what he didn't know
was that my brother was hiding behind
the closet door, within a few seconds all I heard
was bang, bang followed by a thump to the floor, provided
my only brother killed my father who we all
know killed my mother, I died the day my father
took my virginity, I lived only fourteen years prior to today,
I am Susan. B Bernard, free yet without family
