The Dark Ark (Free verse) by MacFrantic
It's my Sunday best
Leaves, mulch, and such
Corinth is waiting!
So come unbound,
You whirling dervish devil
And follow the trail
Of Anabeth to board
The ominous (Oh child!);
The brooding
Dark ark.
We departed on faith
Under a shape shifting moon
(It was!)
And they called us on deck,
Where seagulls squandered
Piercing calls.
This dark ark is forever
Melting me
Into floating wisps
Of smoke upon the sea.
"I fear we've passed
(Oh captain!)
Fast away we shan't be free
If only this dark ark
Will carry us to destiny"
Days of wander;
Water in a fury shelled.
Our hopes are dashed.
My Anabeth, be mine(be mine!)
Be mine in the storm.
Be mine and your own.
I will jump soon enough
To writhe, drown, and be yours.
(I'll be yours in time!)
This place is damned.
They found you cursed;
A corpse in lifeless coil.
(Oh love!)
We shall never reach the shores.
Corinth lies in some dreams,
Where we are saved.
But this dark ark;
This evil pressing silence
Will see our doom
In ocean's clutching cold.
"I fear we've passed
(Oh captain!)
Fast away we shan't be free
If only this dark ark
Will carry us to destiny"
