Dream Walker (Free verse) by Tekara
I sit sometimes and dream of what has gone before
and what has never been.
My dreams, my aspirations, my hope,
All hung up neatly in some forgotten corner of my mind.
Then you walked in and nothing was the same anymore.
You pulled out these items and held them up to look
in the blinding light of truth.
I shrank back, fearing the light and wondered what it all meant.
You pulled me out as well, no matter the cost,
no matter the pain it caused, knowing it was right.
Then there came another, of quiet demeanor and calm.
She eased my fears, erased much of the pain,
Telling me that everything will work out.
As you continued to dredge the sludge from my mind,
She kept me calm, kept the tears at bay.
I pin my hopes, my dreams, on the future now,
No matter how uncertain it seems.
All to catch that ray of sunshine,
That now streams through my mind.
Now I sit and patiently wait,
To see if my dreams are fulfilled, knowing,
Now knowing... that time really does heal all wounds.
