stormcast (a true story) (Free verse) by FreeFormFixation
we were studying in the library, as suddenly something hit her. she dropped her books and began to scream, then ran down the stairs. i grabbed her purse and my own research and ran like a puppy down the stairs and out the door, i thought it was the right thing to do. then sat on a bench beside her, she screamed at me as though i was supposed to derive what she meant by her puzzling rush from the guzzling gush of library knowledge. she ran and i followed. down a country road as she screamed like a child caught up in a tantrum. but this is normal? i asked myself as i followed behind to the doppler station where she finally stopped. and i stood there like an idiot as she climbed the stairs of the tower; down there the people streamed like video. it's strange; but weather mattered. but here we were the center of illinois, i'm serious, the center of the storm forecast on channel x news, and i was confused still. because she was still screaming and i still just stood there. but then she stopped as she popped her top in lincoln illinois. some things were worth running from, but she just could not find anything to enjoy. in me and these surroundings, all around this logan county. i was just another tick in the doppler's sweeping clip.
