Sleep It All Away (Lyric) by somemorepoetry
You've got mud on your feet,
A flower in your hair.
You say you'll meet me in the lobby,
If we don't take the stairs.
Well I've been there before
And I know how it is.
You get darker on the weekends
And say you just need a friend.
I've seen that look before,
With those fingernails like glass.
You say you've had a few problems,
But you know it will pass.
It's ok to cry about it
Just tip back that glass.
You reach your arms out for balance
And grab me by the hand.
You laugh at all the little things,
The words I try to say.
You say I should spend a month in Paris,
And then I'll know the way.
But the only map I need
Is the one to your pain.
I'll wrap you up in a blanket,
And we'll sleep it all away.
Well I've seen those pictures,
The ones you keep in the drawer.
The ones you claim you've never
Ever seen before.
It's ok, it's no big deal,
We all have our flaws.
Just wrap your arms all around me
And the moment's already gone.
The sadness in your eyes,
Makes your eyeliner run.
It tracks down your cheeks
Where it becomes your thoughts.
Falling to an early grave,
But darling please be brave.
I'll wrap you up in a blanket
And we'll sleep it all away.
