The Dimensions of You (Free verse) by jlynnwall
The Dimensions of You
I cannot comprehend all the dimensions of you
Your draw over me pushes and pulls in all you do
A bittersweet romance that swallows me entirely
Soon fading from me as you chase down your dreams avidly
In you, my dimension is but a small sliver in your pie
In which tiny morsels are oft casually brushed aside
Seldom tastes are allowed at only your timely discretion
But my soul succumbs to slow perish with your vague intentions
Our daunting pasts never seem to loosen their draining grip
Do we become history's fool and take another sip?
Our desired dreams harbor visions of so much more
Yet our feelings regress in fear of what is in store
Your bold words speak volumes to the rest of the world
Women and men alike being lucidly lured
But my deaf ears still cannot hear all of you or of us within them
And relentlessly, 'what if' becomes the only pertinent question
Behind the scenes flirtations effect in them a slow quiver
Yet crushing pains of jealousy instill in me a shiver
This stranger's dimension in you is a foreign land to me
Sharp words become fallible and truth becomes all that I see
Dimensions can be a rare commodity in the business of relationships
And you purchased my heart the night you sent your kiss to my lips
But will you find my defect and make the dreaded return
Leaving me broken and drowning in thoughts of all that I yearn
I cannot comprehend all the dimensions...
of you...
It is for this I regret, you may long be lost...
to me.
