Green Piece (Free verse) by flightoffancy
I’d like to have daffodils and wildflowers in my yard, But I live in Suburbia where Bluegrass is King. I can picture it; I could do it. Strike a blow for nonconformity. Scatter bulbs wildly. Create a joyful bright oasis in a desert of green. But for now it's just too much work. So I plant wildflowers in neat flowerbeds. Mow my lawn on Saturday, Water it on Sunday, An environmentalist without conviction. Then I gaze out my window Longing for daffodils and wildflowers.
