Letter Number One (Free verse) by not_a_philosopher
Dear You, You know The happiness that radiates from these eyes And the laughter you are So accustomed to hearing Isn’t an accurate portrayal of who I really am I’m telling you this because, When I wonder off And act sad and scared and lonely You suddenly are concerned, and say I’m not acting like myself Well I have a secret to tell you: You’ve never known myself. Don’t feel bad. It’s not your fault; I’ve never let you. But the fact still remains you wouldn’t recognize myself If it hit you over the head. So please don’t tell me that I’ve been acting strange. Don’t tell me you’re concerned, and that maybe I should talk. I rarely talk. All those words you hear is just an elaborately constructed Series of white noises designed specifically to fool you into thinking I’m trying to communicate. If you’re really so interested in talking then just talk already. But don’t ask me about it. I’m sorry if I’ve startled you. I know you don’t like to be startled. But it’s been on my chest since before I met you. And I had to finally let it out. I hope this hasn’t changed things between us. Love always, Me
