Beautiful Mistake (Free verse) by sk8rs_rule_all
The rose is dying gracefully, aging with love. Its distinct beauty lies where it was before. The smell rises out of each petal as if it were just cut. The color switching from white, to pink, to brown. You gave me this rose early in the day, I smelled it over and over keeping it at bay. I played with it, and touched each petal smiling. I think of you when I see that rose, Hoping that you’ll think of me. I know that what we did was wrong, But it just felt so right. You grabbed my hand and held it tight, My heart skipped a beat and leapt. My eyes gazed at your face, watching your eyes watch mine. I held your hand and held it tight, not wanting to let go and forget. You held me close, and held me tight kissing my neck. I knew that it’d never be the same. I made a beautiful mistake that night, one that I’ll never regret. We were both lonely, searching for that one person to hold. I was there, you were there, and it was meant to be. When you spoke those words of sadness, my heart fell hard. My eyes once again searched yours for an answer, but found nothing. You took my rose, and tore off a petal, holding it tight in your hands. You put it in your pocket, keeping it close to your heart. I broke someone’s heart last night, I’m so sure that I did. I’m sorry for kissing you, I’m sorry for being with you. I’m sorry for cheating on him, I’m sorry for what I did. He’ll never find out what happened that night, for I will never tell.
