My Heart Has Trembled (Other) by TomKWS
My heart has trembled and to keep it safe I've hidden it away inside a great ship, But the stormy sky attacks with waves And the Captain is ill-equipped. So long I've hidden, my eyes shut tight, Praying for release in some safe shape. For though my ship protects from night, It's a prison I cannot escape. I've tried so hard to brave this sea, But always I've been defeated. Mine old enemy knows me well: He's taken what I've most needed. I've shouted and railed 'gainst this fierce wind Though my cry is no longer heard. Yes, mine old enemy lives within, He's stolen away my words. My hope lies in this pen I hold, A whisper from mute lips. I hurry 'fore my heart turns cold A slave in his stone grip. Sometimes I dream of before the storm And fair weathers long since past. Lost love's strong cause to mourn- My flag now flies half-mast.
