Foster Care (Free verse) by Dovina
I let the little turkeys out for the first time today ten soft foster children kept in a neat group by an old red hen If I’d let the birth mother set she’d trot her babies around all day til their little legs got trembly weak That old red hen look at her she keeps those babies ‘round her under the tree shade she don’t let ‘em get all hot and tired Listen to her see how she clucks at ‘em not to go away those little turkeys minded by that wise old hen’ll grow up strong and healthy
