So I Hear (Free verse) by Vince Dolamando
So I hear there are some poets up in here Some real poets Not the kinda who just read and rhythm But the kinda who take the time to speak their mind Not the kind who are so addicted to the revolution That there badgering and constant arguments lesson the solution SO I hear there are some poets up in here But I am not looking for how many times you can say the word ass/bitch/ dick/fuck/ Because poetry should be about the meaning not the words you add b.c you think it will cause a RU-CUS Because so many of you poet activists are trying to make us “Come Around” That you have yet to realize that while you have been yelling at us, this place has become a new town…with out you And your arguments have become so outdated And your yelling thoughts make you seem jaded So I hear there are some poets real up in here And that what I fear B/c some of you grab a beer Write with tears…and think its dear Some of you write I had a cat He is fat Then he died And so I cried Bitch I don’t care about your rhythmic pussy The only way you’re going to make me cum and see you Is to write with your blood, not your feared tears… And although I enjoy the rhythm That doesn’t give you the right to run away with my time And begin to wine B/c if that’s the case, damn…let me grab my 2nd grade notebook And wow you with my 2nd grade angst So I hear there are some poets up in here And some of you use poetry for music sense And I am happy and glad Yet scarred and sad You see I am afraid you might falling into the world of flash flash flashing lights And forget to pour out your heart While most of you know of poetic gods…some of you don’t know of the music gods The Beatles, coldplay, and my girl Lauren hill Are just some of them who battled up hill b/c Lauren hill, just like me…we: “I play our enemies like a game of chess, where I rest, No stress I must confess, my destiny's manifest In some Goretex and sweats I make treks like I'm homeless Bless you if you represent the Fu But I'll hex you with some witch's brew if you're Doo Doo Voo Doo, I can do what you do, easy, BELIEVE ME Frontin' niggas give me hee-bee-gee-bees So while you're imitating Al Capone I'll be Nina Simone And defacating on your microphone.” Did you hear that…spoken from a true African queen… and yet I hear and see some poets acting like Britney spears Whose toxic nasty ass is complaining that she’s so lucky yet she cries cries cries in her lonely heart… fuck that…that’s girl is such a Ho, she be quefen out farts…. So I hear there are some poets up in here And I hope to god, they speak what’s on their mind B/c to many of them add to much pizzazz and lose the sign B/c poetry should be protected by the law And to many of you poets are just last season’s shit...who have FALL- in So to move back in time, we must “summer”ize And speak with our mind/heart to spring ahead We must win-terexchnage our inner thoughts of becoming the next big shit B/c not all of us are 2-legit to quite So I hear there are some poets up in here But can anyone tell me where there at? Didn’t think so
