Dance (Free verse) by REWellman
It was best when the floor was cold
But warmth couldn't stop us
Carpet couldn't either for that matter
We would all twirl and float
Like ice dancers
Across and smooth surface
Except out surface wasn't that smooth
And we didn't have that much space.
We preformed for crowds
Of two, or three, or four,
But rarely could we see them
Because we never could see that well
While we twirled.
We often fell
And things were broken
Or dresses were ripped
But no one could tell us to stop
Because we would never let them.
We danced to music that couldn't be heard
But only seen in our feet as they skipped
Across the hardwood floors
Or the carpets
Under the tables
Out of the room.
There was no boundary
