Moonpath (Free verse) by Sojourner
I left my world, briefly
Not long ago
A daguerreotype world
Two dimensional
Of routine and knee-jerks
Where the hamster cannot exit
His weary wheel
Where merry-go-round steeds
Bear only olive drab
Circling riderless
To monotones played for asylums
And all is designed
To swallow my humanity
In cryogenic increments
I entered your world, briefly
Not long ago
Two dimensional
Silver and black
And yet there was infinite room
Your scintillating path
Shimmered in diamond splendor
Gently stretching toward seamless horizon
A luminous belly dance
Undulating a glorious path
Across dark waves tonguing your length
You followed my transit
With a loverâs loyal ease
My desire burned for you
Like a magma embrace
As your peristaltic overtures
Beckoned life in me
I walked out on you
In a trance of rapture
And reached up to touch
Passionate moon face
Bled silver down my fingers
Until I could see my reflection
In my burnished hand
And I smiled a secret smile
That has never waned
Soon I was at port
Back in the world of the dead
Having birthed a new dimension
It will never overcome
