Hiraeth (Sonnet) by Blurgerocity
Mae hiraeth yn y mor a'r mynydd maith Mae hireath mewn distawrwydd ac mewn can Mewn murmur dyfroedd ar dragywydd daith Yn oriau'r machlud ac yn fflamau'r tan Ond mwynaf yn y gwynt y dwed ei gwyn A thristaf yn yr hesg y cwyna'r gwynt Gan ddeffro adlais adlais yn y brwyn Ac yn y galon, atgof atfot gynt Fel pan wrandawer yn y cyfddydd hir Ar gan y ceilliog yn y glwyd gerllaw Yn deffro caniad ar ol caniad clir O'r gerddi agos, nes o'r llechwedd draw Y cwyd un olaf ei leferydd ef A mwyndder trist y pellter yn ei lef There's longing in grey hills and in the sea There's longing in the silence and in song In murmuring waters roaming endlessly In beaming sunset and in firelight's tongue But gladdest in the wind it makes a moan And sadness in the sedge the wind imparts And rouses echo's echo with it's tone And memory's memory in the heart of hearts. As when you listen to the singing cock That brings its birdsong with the rising day Evoking answer upon answer back From nearby gardens, then from far away The last lone bird lifts up its voice on high The longing fills the distance in its cry
