Johnny (Free verse) by MacFrantic
Simple boy They said to him That he wasn't choice material So he left without a wisp of animosity But he had given them all he HAD Every OUNCE What more was to be expected From a group of uptight Indignant socialite Bastards? They said his IMAGE wasn't keen to what's HIP He laughed and sipped from his soft herbal beverage And he gave them his number in case they changed their minds All you do your entire life is strive to be accepted To get people to like you To L-I-K-E You Yourself So if you're not a likeable person People take advantage He nodded at their pictures Pollock Rembrandt Picasso Monet And it struck him Not like lightning Too cliche But like love Then Within the ever-present ebb and flow of life A siren goes off in the hostess' head Suddenly Gone is that striking That LOVE And he is led to the door Shaking The odor of vanity lingering beneath his nose If he had the resolve He could DIE
