Presence Of Life (Free verse) by talking_goldfish
I lie awake, to the ticking of the clock,
I lie awake, wanting time to stop,
If I could live this moment for the rest of time,
Life would be less potent, tranquillity would be mine,
The soothing light above my head, colours blue to red,
Chameleon ripe, upon my bed, prevents any bloodshed,
Coal's a plenty, warmth is nigh,
Glass half empty, a knot to tie,
Watch the crazy, rampant beast, savaging his prey,
Then see this delightful feast, on your plate this Easter day,
The silent night precedes the silent morn,
Listen to the birds at the break of dawn,
The shallow, flowing river, catches sunshine rays,
Reflects the life above, the shallow, flowing waves,
The whisper of the wind determines the waters path,
But the awe-inspiring damn must not let it pass,
The almighty water falls, to wreck that solemn damn,
Years in the making. Ruined by a plan.
The presence of life is beautiful, don't let it slip away.
