Drop Me in the Silence (Free verse) by emilyowey
These white cap days of ups and downs So sealed upon my soul, Bring me here amidst the words And drop me in the silence. My temples ache in ecstasy. My eyes close as the coldness floods my body. The dim memories of the music I once loved, Once depended on, invades my dreams. My hope ravaged hands, scarred by youth???s idealism Can no longer lie to the rest of me. They offer them selves up in empty repentance. The questions of a thousand children, now dead for ages past Echo in my head, mocking me because I will never know the answers. What is the light, where is the air, they whisper. Shame fills me. The balance and the scales know. They are the answers to the facts. And they drop me in the silence

Up the ladder: life
Down the ladder: Black Rose
