The diggers (Free verse) by creamy1983
The first man digs He digs til his arms ache He digs till he can no more Then lays to sleep, only to wake Again he digs Deeper and deeper into the earth His destiny is to dig A laborer since birth The second man watches As the first grows old The second man takes over Once the first grows cold The first man finally lays to sleep In the hole they both have dug The second man covers the first After one final hug The second man finds a new spot And digs til his arms burn The third can only stand back To watch and wait his turn --a lil something that was in my head--
