seven one four before (Free verse) by skaskowski
Why are you scared to be alone at night at home? Are you still hearing the voices in the basement underneath the pavement? Why are you scared to go to sleep? Do you still hear the creaking sound of steps above your head bending the boards above your bed? And then you're standing alone at the top of the stairs looking down. Smoke billows up and the banister buckles. You fall forward and tumble. Thinking of that burnt book you found. Inside: a postcard never sent out. Do you feel like we've seen this before? Or maybe I'm dreaming for 714. Maybe I'm dreaming for 714. Maybe I'm dreaming for 714. Why are you scared to be alone at night, at home? Are you still hearing the voices in the basement? Whispering below your bed, heating the floorboards with their breath. The last scene at 7 14. 7 1 4 before you were burned, I'm stuck in that dream again. You're a voice in the night. 7 14 what did you see 1993? And if you could speak now, what would you say? That something's not right? Something's not right. Why are you scared to be alone at night when you're at home? Are you still hearing the voices in the basement? Underneath the pavement? Underneath the pavement? 7 1 4 before you were burned you were burned before.

Up the ladder: who wansa do that?
Down the ladder: Cocks make capable fathers
