School (Free verse) by crooked_smile
do you see that boy, in the back of the class flicking the flickable beige rubber band again and again. Do you see the teacher, with a smile plastered on her pretty face because yelling at children is detrimental and will only teach them things like how to be aggressive and violent do you see the words tumbling out of her mouth “Johnny will you please stop flicking that rubber band?” can you see that turbulent wind in her mind blowing around all the little leaf words it’s winter and all the “this year I will touch lives” and “this time we will finish Unit 4 on time” trees have died for the year. can you that small thin piece of string like the web of a spider it connects Miss. Stevenson’s eyes to Johnny’s rubber band <flick> (can you see it breaking, and getting all over Morgan’s braids,) as teacher finally cracks, “Jonathon Bennet go to the principals office RIGHT NOW!” tears fall to the ground watering all the imaginary plants in the hallway {sniffle} “Why did she have to get so mad at me, anyway? All I did was flick one stupid rubber band.”
