not again (Free verse) by sarah
I think of Bob Dylan when I'm talkin' to you; and sometimes I still want to see it all through but I know where this road goes - I been there before and I don't wanna go there again... Ya know I been there again and again and again. You're my oldest old love - babe, you know I love you still... but I can't be your girl... not again, do you hear? Please don't call me baby; Please don't take that tone; Don't call singin' songs while you're drunk on the phone because I know where you're heading You wanna save me again... but I've been there again and again and again. Besides, you really never saved me as it turns out in the end. And when I hear the Dead you know I'll always taste your skin, because we lapped up those lyrics again and again and again... I'm you're "Scarlet Begonia", and sweet "Peggy-O" too, I will never hear those songs without thinking of you. But I don't hear the Dead anymore, my old friend... I have heard them again and again and again... Though sometimes in homage I will groove to their beat, I took a different direction; I'm on a new street... I turned and I detoured, but I'm back on the road, and I can't go with you - you know we still have our load... and just cuz I'm sad doesn't mean I need you but I love you, just know that I'm thinking of you Whenever I hear me some "Mexicali Blues" You know I'll be thinking of you.
