He Hunts For Meaning (Other) by validus_vox

He hunts the fields with a head full of dreams Pushing aside the waste, he perseveres Digging his toes into the ground His shoulders bulge with the strain They said he was a failure, not fit for success With words like razors, slicing apart his ego He falls to the floor Face down on this grey and white tile Tasting the dirt carried in by past travelers Grabbing the sink he rises to his feet And shakes off defeat in hopes of better luck And brushes the dirt from his pants, he walks out the door Just another day in his shoes, he faces their wrath Of words and dirt slung to slow him Is this a game to them? A recreational activity? Eyes down he strolls on, down the hall and around the corner Ducking outside the hide from their antics Someone grabs his hand from behind him It’s her, his friend…the one he searched for He leans close to her ear, and whispers: “They continue to push, but little do they know… …they make it harder for themselves in the long run.” With a smirk on his face, he straightens up She seemed confused, but knew he was thinking something Could it be another life truth he knows, that we don’t Or is this his defense, a thought he holds dear This does not matter, because she knows He is the one, she has looked for With untouched grace, their hearts entwine with unseen threads He feels it, and tries to explain Where the feeling comes from But the beauty is something that can’t be named Meant to be left untouched The life struggle was worth it, to find her and the love Holding her hand, he walks down the dusty road, ready for the future
