Ode to the Wolf (Ode) by Cougarchic

Swiftly they run through dense lush forests Silent and sleek No masters have they They pad softly down-hill The ground laden with snow Not a sound not a whisper Sunset is over now The full moon rises high The silence is broken by a sharp piercing sound It is the howl of the wolf serenading the moon Their eyes sparkle bright Like the stars in the night While they hunt and they stalk their prey oh so slyly They hide in the undergrowth ready to pounce They prefer the big game But when they lose out They have to hunt rodents just to eat They are sly as a fox They have the courage of a bear They are cunning as a cat They have no fear
