Time's End (Free verse) by Quarton

On mountain's towering white crest, winter's hold weakens in warming spring winds, snow transformed into tiny droplets freed from climate's frigid grasp; melding to form trills of pristine, crystal clear water. Heated by sun's rays and gaining in strength, restive current like our visceral search for truth sought during life's odyssey through time, pereption enhanced by water's reflection of light's eternal dance of becoming; sparkling points of evolving clarity and meaning, united with the now swiftly running upland stream. Purling waters symbolic of time's passing, transformed into a celebration of life's inception and vow of timelessness for, as rivers cease to run, so too our mortality portends an end to finite existence, our human birthright bestowed by the creation of which we are a wayward part, notions of autonomy nourished by duality's illusion. Slowly, aging waters recede until far downstream, current is diminished to a trickle and disappears; all traces gone, like the arduous journey from creation to realization, another cycle completed only to be born again in spring's re-emergence into a harbinger of new life; the renewal of time's passage into oblivion begun anew.
