Here There Be Dragons (Lyric) by blkarakagain

The road ahead was small, indeed, 'twas clearly not made for wagons, and beside this small road, a sign proclaimed, 'Beyond Ye May Find Dragons,' His imagination stirred and mind all abuzz, the young warrior stepped boldly ahead, only to find, just a bit beyond, another, such as he, lying dead, His weapons and armor were strewn about, his gear and poor body broken, and evidence of battle, recent and fierce, came from the smells of a corpse still smokin', When he gazed on ahead, just over the hill, he beheld the horror of death, for everywhere and scattered about, were victims of the dragon's breath, Beyond the carnage and satisfied rage, stood the mountains, tall and quite fair, and, in them, would be a hero made, who stood and fought in the dragon's lair, Gathering his strength and his gear, the young warrior set out walkin', determined, as ever, to eat dragon stew, the fruit of his superb stalkin', "I'll have his hide," he screamed aloud, as he journeyed to prove his measure, "and pluck his eyes, eat his heart, and then fill my pockets with treasure," So it was, when he happened upon the ancient dragon laying in wait, that the battle he sought and fury he wrought, seemed but a trifle to the winged beast's hate, But so ready was the dragon and poised to destroy a host, when but a single man came, that surpised, he lingered a bit too long, and never got to direct his flame, The warrior struck and struck again, turning dragon to blood and gore, and then slashed his throat, quenching forever the fire of Dragon Lore, For this was the last of a once proud race, frightening and terrible to behold, now, I'm afraid, they belong only to myth, merely tales children beg to be told.

Rather good, have seen the title somewhere before, Master Pratchett? Good poem, although horus8 is right, the end isn't quite as good as the rest.
Have been writing a poem about a dragon myself, if I can change it into a decent poem from the pretentious pile of shite it is now, I may even post it...still like this poem-8
