To My Love (Free verse) by sliver

Dear Love; My feelings of love are buried.. Deep within the limitless recesses of this cavern, Which I refer to as my heart. This letter Signifies my attempts to delve Into this bottomless Pit and withdraw at least a portion of my True feelings for you. The beauty of poetry is normally sufficient To describe these feelings called love, which All men must bear. Poetry, however, could Never do justice to the ethereal aura which Must follow a woman of eternal beauty such as Yourself. The failings of poetry, while few in number, Are immediately revealed when an attempt Is made to use this medium to describe your beauty. The perfection which is found in your features could Never be confined to rhyme and metre. The light of all other women who are viewed as 'beautiful' Must inevitably be snuffed out when exposed in your Presence. Why, your shadow alone would carry you through Any contest in which beauty is judged. I apologize for my feeble attempts to describe this angel Which I perceive standing in your place. Now it seems That I am truly destined for heaven, because I continually taste paradise while I'm in your presence. While I'm on the subject of heaven, I would like to Thank God for creating you. Although I foster no Hope that my love for you could ever be returned, The blessings that I have obtained by simply Being in your presence, are enough to guide me Through a thousand lifetimes of oppression. Oppression, Which is the definition of life without Your love. My life.
