A Man Of The World (Free verse) by vulcan

But then Father cried "Breakfast is ready!" So I left the green gate And its fiddling fairy. But when the Priest pointed to the rings And soundlessly parted his lips Just then I knew I'd killed the fairy, the fiddle... And the gate.

The green fairy is another name for absinthe - given your poem about wormwood, are yout trying to reveal an addiction to absinthe?! Which is an excellent escape from Priests and rings.
