Renewal (Free verse) by emilyowey

There is a paper-thin window, A membrane in time A world between worlds, Deeper than words can reach. ‘Midst the last tail of summer And the fierce hush of cold There is a moment, A renewal of emptiness When nothing is new- Everything is dying. A swell can be felt in between. There lights dazzle, Colors claim to cover feelings. An explosion- then hush Then nothing at all, But the wind- and the still. Gusts of numbness. Loss, for the purpose of sustaining. Allowing for dormancy. Preparing for growth. Gusts of remembering, Remembering that nothing is forever. That every day, Every season has its October, Its last grand decay Before the sweet breath of calm.

Nicely said. A leaf turning red is really the departing of green chlorophyl, I'm told.
