My Beliefs (Free verse) by jroday

We can say 'peace on earth, 'we can sing about it, preach about it, or pray about, but if we have not internalized the mythology to make it happen inside of us, then it will not be. There will always be men struggling to change and there will always be those who are controlled by the past. Most people are so hard to please that if they met God, they'd probably say yes,He's great but... No race can prosper till it learns that there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem. Each of us, from childhood, weaves his or her own intricate web of self-images. These images form the beliefs born in response to every thought and experience, every humiliation and triumph, every defeat and victory. My medals in life will be the young people I have touched. I tell them two things- First, ones attitude will determine one's altitude, and secondly, things just don't happen by chance, you have to make them happen." jroday Aug 28,1956-until then
