Lady in Red (Free verse) by Faulk

Yesterday was the first time I saw her Her, her, her, her I was alone, like always Sitting on the side of the street sipping my café When there she appeared a hummingbird in a storm of grey She is now in my mind, always, always, in my mind She is an itch on the corner of my lip that no scratching will soothe I now go back to that corner every day, every day I sit with my café waiting, and hoping She has never come back, but I don’t mind I will wait; I will wait for the lady in red The songbird of desire that never ceases Alone on my corner, always, always alone.
