Some of us pound out a poem
using rhythm and structure,
breaking up lines and rhymes
so to fit in the palm of the hand.
The ticky tackiness of a poem
can stick to the ribs and under your nails,
be clear to rub out the wordiness
so what is left is a bite-size portion.
Go swallow the adverbs
and don't choke on the nouns,
pray spit out the punctuations,
so you need not floss after reading.
