Theres a large difference between what society thinks about art, and what an artist _KNOWS_ about art... Also, theres a difference between artists who have less talent than most and people that _THINK_ they are artists. Taking teenage poetry as an example, 80% of it is artless.. Because when you read alot of it, you realize that the same things are being said over and over with a limited amount of creativity. Writing to express emotion is fine, get a journal. But if someone wants to be a poet, its intelligent for them to think of how to creatively express their emotions.. thats the difference between teenagers with artistic talent and teenagers writing in rage and raw emotion, having no second thought as to how the resulting "poem" could be better presented, worded, and styled.

Talking about certain stages an artist goes through, sure, I went through this stage, it lasted maybe three days and then I realized that my poems were childish third grade homework papers.
Being fourteen, i got tired of writing poetry that people thought was written by an eight year old quickly. (thank god)

If we start to commend people for non artistic crap, you will find that art will become a void of garbage, polluted with large amounts of corny emotional slush.. a long and far cry from "perfection".
