Styx (Free verse) by heartlessempath
I dipped my hands in the river Styx
I shall never be clean of this
Iâll wash my body till it shines, soak myself in
Ambrosia,
But Iâll never be clean of this:
Iâm withered now, and
So Iâll be till the end of time
15 with hands like 50,
Immortalized ugliness,
Iâd rather be a cripple then
Carry this forever.
I didnât dare to swim across and
Get a souvenir from the
Land Of the dead
Although, I suspect life would be
Simpler if I had thought
To bring the toll
Once youâre in,
Can you get back out? Rise from the dead and
Dabble in self-necromancy
And, like Orpheus,
Bring out the loved one.
Who must have died before my time:
I never met them.
Why did I go down?
Iâd have seen the place eventually.
Time shares in Hades.
Prime real-estate and cheap rates.
Donât you wish you could choose
Where you spent eternity?
And who you spent it with?
Could I go down to Hades and
Speak to Dante himself on
Which circle is best?
So Iâm taking out ads for roommates in
Eternity now.
Iâll never die, and itâd be nice
To make sure I wasnât so lonely
For all of time.
