A prayer for the afterthought (Free verse) by Eric Johnson

Lord, I have, but one request, to let me keep your winged saint, For the pleasures I've attained, and that tinge of love, forever quaint. For all the prayers to the stars, hoping you could hear, But now, Oh Lord, for I am sure, you keep a careful ear. Memories of my last joys, and the days before my hell began, I am blessed with your touch, time and time again. Lord how they hope, I'm not derailed by love's soothing train, But they could never even know, of what I have attained. Lord, she makes me love again, she makes me sing and dance, Oh how she takes all my dreams, and combines them with romance. How she accepts me, as I am, for I may never understand, But does it matter any more, when I now live in this land? Somewhere between your blessed heavens, and glorious fields of green, I found her with an open heart, this woman of my dreams. She makes it all glow again, she gives the desire to improve, The way I talk to you, to friends, Oh Lord, how she does soothe. Those little bumps of imperfection, she fills my lacking parts, How I can look into her eyes, and somehow see her heart. She waits up in her bedroom, waving as I leave, Her only wish, she desires, I make it home, still in one piece. Her soul consoles me, wipes my tears, fills, and completes, I've never tasted this type of love, or anything so sweet. Oh Lord, give me the wisdom, to make your glorious gift last, For Lord, she makes me want to build a future... And forget my aching past...

10 for sincerity and craft, -1 because it isn't terribly novel, overall quite good. Genuine sentiment of this sort is very rare here.
