Replying to a comment on:
Social Geeks and Christians (Free verse) by SP REYNOLDS
Here we have it.
Any given time in Anno Domini.
From the dawning, waking, walking upright of Jesus from the grave,
to the machine run end of human existence.
We are invincible.
The Christians, preaching what our parents taught us in puritan New
England or up state chalaten,
possibly never to be awoken to the cruel reality that we are alone in
this world.
Thinking that people waking from the dead is something that belongs in a
horror movie, complaining about everything, loving nothing -
imaging the reality of solitude, so deplorable that we run home,
abandoning crusader ship,
in order to drive a BMW.
Where is the love?
We canât find it, so we must go home.
Motherâs love, according to her.
Fatherâs laugh, according to him.
What can we love today,
longing for church on Sunday circa 1500 to a rock concert and semi-
messiahs circa 1999.
âGive us hope, somebody!
Take our minds off monotony, somebody!
WE ARE GEEKS!â
Loving false truth and hoping for some destruction to entertain us.
Who will it be to show cool?
The answer man.
The one living out life,
presumably by himself,
asking nothing but the right to breath,
preaching only when an obstacle is obstructing his inertia,
helping when he can,
offering nothing but what he can give,
ignoring ridicule,
suffering most,
loving the lovable,
studying physics,
going with the flow.
