Candles (Free verse) by goddessbyfire

It comes as a reminder every now and then, light the wicks of the candles. I awake in semi-darkness without a friend It serves as my reminder. Understanding what my consequence is, I light the wicks of the candles. The tallows burn low after a long wait within, and my eyes close with the darkness. I cannot escape the cruel hand dealt, I light the wicks of the candles. The wax has accumalated on the tarnished brass, another reminder of my own state. Lying in darkness, cold arms crossed they light the wicks of the candles. It seems a fine finish for fate, A soul lost in darkness for all time, as I cannot light the wicks of the candles.
