Track.... (Free verse) by Topaz Servias
(Note=: This a ten minute poem, I Wrote this with no real expectation of
it being in any way good.)
Running round in fields of fire
I show my pride through my ire
This hope it burns while I play
And shows me all that it may
I look for a path to follow
The nook in my heart is hollow
I glance around and lo I spy
A runner that has passed me by
I call to him and ask him this
"Will you help me find my kiss?"
He slowly stops and turns to me
Then he leans against a tree
"Can you tell me, what's your track?"
I look at him, and he looks back
"I can't remember what it was,
Can you tell me what it does?"
He glances around to see the meadow
Then says to me.......NO.........
"But you can tell yourself"
Adding more questions to the shelf.
He turns to leave and walk away
And there I see to my dismay
A book he has left...for me to find?
What is this book with the leather bind?
I walk right over and pick it up
The cover says "Drink your fill from my cup"
"What does THIS mean?" I ask myself
Surely not said by any Elf
I open the pages expecting a map
Instead there are stories within the gap
Curiosity starts me reading
But soon I realize what I'm needing
The path I look for is already set
There is no need to make a bet
This book it holds my track for me
The one who died did so for thee.
