The Class of 2012 (Free verse) by jess33

Unfortunately, faith wears thin when all is broken, all at once. We have such trouble with blood when it flows through the uniforms of our heroes and from hearts of the people. (We believe it becomes justice as it flows from those supposedly less righteous than ourselves.) Rubble and terror- everyday words that fly off the tongues of our third graders, easily and mechanically, like please and thank you. As for the class of 2012, the flag hangs up above the blackboard, subtly, innocently, hopefully, like the children who pledge allegiance to it. Fortunately, faith, like a library book, can be renewed with a new generation, a new benevolent generation.

I agree with your point and your ending but I wonder if it could do with some cutting earlier on?
