We visited the gay men on the veranda (Free verse) by Frass

We visited the gay men on the veranda my wife and I traded nervous laughter and looks. So strange to me calling each other 'girl!' suddenly, whirling and crooning to an old Supremes hit another has a fit over some prankish indiscretion between his boyfriend and another blush-cheeked, man-child, loverly she-creatures I love them but, brotherly.

Me and my friends make up words all the time; it's a geek-culture tradition (see http://www.tuxedo.org/jargon/). As for stereotypes- yes, these particular gay men reinforced the stereotype because they were so noticeably effeminate. But you probably don't notice the hundreds of gay men you see otherwise who -don't- fit the stereotype, because they look and act like every other man. The squeaky wheel gets noticed, and all.
