quetzalcoatl (Free verse) by ThePariahDog
scaling the tower
cold-blooded and crammed
in a silver bullet shot
through the night sky
we stopped short of the door
intertwining with passion
slowly sliding in
molting our outer layers
the bird lay clutched with claws
she screams the serpent's name
in passionate praise of a naked god
for a time, feathers fly
bodies roaring like thunder
that woke me to morning
as silence stood bare
the serpent sank back to the depths below
