Who We Are (Free verse) by Etter72

We will never know if the risk was worth the reward; we won’t know if the pain was worth the gain taken from the struggle. However, we must remain keenly aware of the fact that it is not so much the successes or failures that define us, but the process in which we went through to get there. Success does not necessarily mean winning, being rich, or finding that one person you’ve been looking for; nor does losing or being alone necessarily define failure. It is the experiences that we choose to, or are forced to go through, that shapes us as people. What we value, and what we care about will always matter more than what we possess. In the end, it is not our successes, failures, or acquisitions that shape us. How did you get here? What have you learned? That’s what defines who you are as a person.
