Talking, sharing thoughts and stories Realizing we are not so different Feeling we are not alone Connections in place of isolation Interesting that after years We still learn new things about our friends And growth and laughter can still bring us closer Interesting that we learn about ourselves most When we engage ourselves in others lives We gain perspective and insight We grow, learn, and we see That we should engage and stop daydreaming We inspire each other to go forth into the night Blind, but not afraid For a life not lived is a life of heartbreak and regret This year has shown me that I am no longer afraid To live, to engage in my life This year has also shown me that others are not so fortunate And when the one you love is someone afraid of living We must learn not to effect this at all For we must each come to our own conclusions Right or Wrong We must all decide our own fates and truths For we all have to look in a mirror, just as much As we have to look at each other So an end to my daydream delusions I will not connect with this soul at this level I can at least know that for once I acted instead of watch I tried instead of isolate I tried for once to control my own fate I failed, but I can move forward without that regret...
